NEW MANSFIELD COMMUNITY SHED

Mansfield Adult Community Education (MACE) has expanded its community connections for our flourishing neighbourhood, in the form of a new Community Shed.

MACE moved into the old High-Country Mechanical shed in Early Street earlier this year – and is opening up the space to all community members and groups to gather, engage, attend courses and achieve community goals.

For many years, MACE’s Neighbourhood House has supported community connection groups, but they have been spread across various public halls and recreation buildings. Our new centrally located Mansfield Community Shed has a purpose-built workshop, kitchenette and large meeting space for our growing community to gather, build connections and share experiences.

“We often see these spaces target one particular cohort in the community, whether it be gender or age based,” CEO Kylie Richards said. “This space will be available to all community members, of all ages, stages and backgrounds”.

MACE will continue to support various community groups, including the Gadhaba Local Aboriginal Network (GLAN) the Mansfield Multicultural Group, Social Badminton, Social Table Tennis, Line Dancing, the Mansfield Croquet Club, and North East Multicultural Association (NEMA).

The Mansfield Community Shed is also currently home for our fee-for-service welding courses, metal art sculpture classes, weight and strength programs, and will be available for any community members or groups to book and utilise as per individual needs.

“We want this to be a facility that supports our community to connect, grow, and support each other for a brighter and more resilient future,” says Ms Richards. “Mansfield has such strong community values, and we’re honoured to contribute to that”

The Mansfield Community Shed will have a grand opening on Monday 31 October 2022 to showcase the building to prospective community members and groups. MACE warmly invites all community members to join them for our opening with demonstrations from some of our wonderful existing community groups, with light finger food provided.

If you would like to be a part of our grand opening, follow the event on Facebook, or contact reception on 57752077, email reception@mace.vic.edu.au
